What does catch-all mean?
A catch-all domain is configured to accept mail for any address on that domain, even when the specific mailbox may not exist in a normal way.
Why that matters
Catch-all domains reduce certainty. They are not the same as clearly valid addresses, and they should not be treated as a free pass.
Practical action
Most teams apply a separate policy for catch-all results:
- review before sending
- isolate into lower-risk segments
- combine with source quality before deciding
